Our Sustainability & Manufacturing
We look at the full life cycle of our product and make every decision based on what is best for the planet and for you. From raw fiber to when wayre lands on your doorstep - we're laser focused on a minimal footprint. We are thorough about sustainable practices in our manufacturing, material choices, to water usage for every item we sell and improving our practices along the way. Keep reading and you’ll see what we mean.
Like-silk fabric
Made from our Bluesign certified (aka no toxic stuff), eco-friendly woven blend of reclaimed post-consumer plastic bottles collected from landfills in Taiwan and spandex. Our Like-silk fabric gives a second life to waste otherwise polluting our planet. That’s a full circle moment. Bluesign® is the highest and most rigorous sustainability certification in the textile market that approaches sustainable efforts holistically from factory floor to finished goods. They mean business & so do we.
Our eco-efficient water recycling process while creating Like-silk fabric uses less water than traditional production, like waaay less. We only use 20 liters to the yard. That’s 2,680 liters of water saved compared to the average cotton t-shirt. Told you it's way less.
We are constantly making improvements to our fabric, raising the bar for sustainable textile standards and discovering cutting edge sustainable technologies. This year, we will be releasing an even more eco-friendly version of Like Silk that is made with the first of its kind: recycled spandex (it’s impressive, trust us).
Green production
Our ISO50001 certified, eco-industrial Taiwanese manufacturing team is just about as authentically green as it gets. Together, we’re committed to green manufacturing practices and combating the harsh realities of the textile industry on the planet. We minimize, reduce and upcycle waste throughout the entire production process like making eco-bricks out of textile sludge to utilizing the textile scraps from the cutting process and remaking them into accessories. We even plant native trees around the campus to reduce carbon absorbability. Like houseplants, but better.
100% recyclable packaging
Our apparel mailers are 100% curbside recyclable and are made from 100% post-consumer recycled materials. We’ve evaluated hundreds of solutions to determine which packaging options are the most eco-friendly considering carbon usage in transit to end of life cycle, and paper it is. Paper is naturally biodegradable and curbside recyclable. It’s a win win for us and the planet.Climate neutral
We’re working on becoming climate neutral as soon as possible, taking a hard look at all of our processes and supply chain to become certified lean and green.
